Clinical Experience Block 6

The PCL Clinical Experience includes: Telemedicine Patient Experience Session, Clinical Procedures Session, and Ultrasound Session.

BLOCK 6 OBJECTIVES AND ASSESSMENTS

Telemedicine Encounters (1:00 or 1:40 start)

  • The interviewer will be conducting the encounter while the scribe observes
  • Complete the SOAP Presentation Debrief Qualtrics form with a faculty member during your debrief session

  • 2 Simulation SP cases followed by a group debrief.

Aorta & Gallbladder Ultrasound (using cardiac probe)

  • M1's will obtain required images with their partners, including aortic views (x4), gallbladder long, and cardiac apical 4 chamber view.
  • Submit the aorta long view using the US image upload link.

PREWORK REQUIRED

  • For those who have seen their patient beforereviewyour patient's medical history from your prior notes and prepare a tentative plan for your telehealth visit.Take into accountyou will not have EMR access to be able to review new events since your last visit. This information will need to be obtain during your interview. For those seeing a new patient develop a plan for an initial encounter with a patient when unable to review chart information.
  • Review the SP patient information in the case your patient does not show
  • Recommend reviewing and choosing any age appropriate screening condition with patient (to assist with appropriate choice refer to optional readingSymptom to Diagnosis: An Evidence-Based Guide Part 2: Healthy Patient

POSTWORK

  • Recorders must complete your patient's note by 5:00 PM the day after your patient encounter and sign/submit your note to Clinical Experience Preceptor and partner in a [secure] email. If this is not completed on time, you will lose professionalism points.
  • Once your note is sent to your Clinical Experience Preceptor, fill outStaff Documentation Qualtrics Survey to receive documentation feedback. 
  • Complete the Class of 2028 PCL Clinical Experience Post-Visit Survey.
  • (Pending email from Ms. Carvonne Hall) Complete all requirements for EPIC access during Block 5 and prior to Block 6 in the following order:
    • ACEMAPP requirements refer to email from Carvonne Hall once received
    • EPIC online Training
    • Obtain oneID
    • Set up Authenticator
  • If any of the above is not completed on time you will lose professionalism points.
