Clinical Experience Block 6

The PCL Clinical Experience includes: Telemedicine Patient Experience Session, Clinical Procedures Session, and Ultrasound Session. 

BLOCK 6 OBJECTIVES AND ASSESSMENTS

Schedule of the Day

12:50 - 12:59 PM	ZOOM ORIENTATION Make sure you use the QR Code to sign in!
1:00 - 1:40PM	Telemedicine Encounters (1:00 or 1:40 start)  The interviewer will be conducting the encounter while the scribe observes Complete the SOAP Presentation Debrief Qualtrics form with a faculty member during your debrief session AMWELL NOW      SOAP PRESENTATION DEBRIEF    CITRIX ACCESS    STAFF DOCUMENTATION QUALTRICS SURVEY Clinical Procedures cases (1:00 & 1:50)  Introduction to Shock 2 Simulation SP cases followed by a group debrief.
2:30 - 3:00PM	Intro to Shock Debrief
3:00 - 3:10PM	Study Consent
3:10 - 4:45PM	Aorta & Gallbladder Ultrasound (using cardiac probe) M1's will obtain required images with their partners, including aortic views (x4), gallbladder long, and cardiac apical 4 chamber view. Submit the aorta long view using the US image upload link.  INFORMED CONSENT  ULTRASOUND DEBRIEF SURVEY  Ultrasound Image Upload

 

Telemedicine Patient Encounter

REFRESH

• Review EMR training  
  • Review Medical Student Note Writing
  • Review all EMR videos under FAQ on website

• Review PCL Note Template with additions specific for primary care and chronic conditions and Example Note that follows this template
• Review Telehealth Exam
  

PREWORK REQUIRED

• Review your patient's medical history and prepare for your telehealth visit
• Recommend reviewing and choosing any age appropriate screening condition with patient (to assist with appropriate choice refer to optional reading Symptom to Diagnosis: An Evidence-Based Guide Part 2: Health Patient)
• Watch the Principles of Motivational Interviewing and Core Skills with examples from fellow classmates
• Review EMR training
  • Review How to Send a Secure Message in Powerchart
  • If you have not completed a medicine history reconciliation or updated social history of your patient please attempt to do one of these during this block

POSTWORK

• Complete your patient's note by 5:00 PM the day after your patient encounter and sign/submit your note to Clinical Experience Preceptor for signature and PCL preceptor as a reviewer. If have SP encounter, send note to PCL preceptor in email for feedback.
• Once your note is sent to your Clinical Experience Preceptor, fill out Staff Documentation Qualtrics Survey to receive documentation feedback
• Complete the Class of 2027 PCL Clinical Experience Post-Visit Survey 
• If any of the above is not completed on time you will lose professionalism points.

• Will be using the cardiac probe, not the abdominal probe.
