Community Engagement

savannah students

At MCG Savannah, we believe that community engagement is at the heart of medical education. Our students are not just future physicians; they are advocates for positive change and stewards of public health. Through a variety of community-based initiatives, we empower our students to make a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of individuals and communities.

Student-Run Clinics

Our student-run clinics provide students with hands-on opportunities to address real-world health challenges in underserved communities. Whether it's organizing health fairs, conducting screenings for chronic diseases, or leading educational workshops on preventive care, students gain valuable clinical experience while making a tangible difference in the lives of others. From volunteering working with migrant farmworkers to organizing free clinics in town, students have the chance to contribute their time and expertise to addressing pressing health needs in our community.

Community-Based Research

Through community-based research projects, students have the opportunity to collaborate with community members and organizations to identify health disparities, develop interventions, and evaluate outcomes. By actively involving community stakeholders in the research process, students gain a deeper understanding of the social determinants of health and the importance of community engagement in addressing health inequities.

Health Advocacy & Policy

We empower our students to be advocates for health equity. Through our health advocacy and policy initiatives, students learn how to advocate for policies and programs that promote access to quality healthcare for all. Whether it's participating in legislative advocacy efforts, organizing public health campaigns, or working with community partners to address systemic barriers to care, students play a vital role in shaping the future of healthcare delivery.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

We recognize the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing complex health issues. Our students have the opportunity to collaborate with students and faculty from other disciplines, including nursing and public health to develop holistic solutions to community health challenges. By working together across disciplines, students gain a deeper appreciation for the interconnectedness of health and social issues and develop the skills to effect meaningful change.

Great Doctors, Great Medicine Since 1828.
