As part of theNeuroscience Center of Excellenceour mission is to deliver excellent patient care, provide superior education to the resident staff and the community as a whole, and engage in innovative research.

We are proud of the award-winningChildren's Hospital of Georgiaat Augusta University, our nationally recognizedpatient-centered careapproach, and theAugusta University Medical Center's Gamma Knife Center. We offer a complete range of services for patients with diseases of the brain, spine, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. Our distinct subspecialty areas of expertise includecomplex spine, neurooncology, cerebrovascular/endovascular and stroke (including carotid disease, aneurysms and vascular malformations), and functional/stereotactic neurosurgery (including movement disorders and epilepsy). In addition, we have flourishing research laboratories including the innovativehuman brain lab, the cerebrovascular lab, and the synapse lab.

As we anticipate the next chapter in our department's history we expect continued growth and the maintenance of excellence in patient care, education and research.
