Latino Medical Student Association

Our Mission:

The Medical College of Georgia’s is dedicated to developing a diverse, culturally competent & empathetic physician workforce and providing an environment that fosters cultural understanding, cultural competency, and opportunities for individuals of all backgrounds. We offer programs and initiatives for students who are underrepresented in medicine, non-traditional, and from underserved regions of the state.

Our Goals:

We envision a world in which improved health outcomes for all patients arise as a result of the following:

Increased representation and support of healthcare professionals from backgrounds underrepresented among the medical workforces.
Increased awareness of critical issues affecting the health of the Hispanic, Latina/Latino and other marginalized communities.
Increased efforts to reduce disparities in the ways patients of color experience the American healthcare system.

ALL ARE WELCOME TO JOIN THE LMSA Chapter! There is no “Latino’ requirement to be a member of LMSA. At LMSA, we welcome everyone! And while Latino is in our name and our primary focus is the Latino community, we are also committed to supporting underrepresented medical students and providing for underserved populations.
