(ALA Cogn) Effect of 6 weeks of Alpha-Lipoic Acid Supplementation on Cognitive and Vascular Function in Older Adults

Anti-oxidants are believed to help reduce oxidative stress in the cells of the body. Smoking and aging increases oxidative stress and harms blood vessels in the brain, heart and throughout the body. The purpose of this study is to determine if taking alpha-lipoic acid (ALA), an over-the-counter oral dietary supplement, can improve mental sharpness and blood vessel health in people with high oxidative stress


Eligibility Criteria

  • Patients over the age of 50 are eligible to participate in the study.
