Office of Institutional Access, Success, and Belonging

Committed to increasing inclusive excellence, promoting equity, and cultivating a welcoming environment for all students, faculty, and staff at Augusta University

Working hand-in-hand with university administrative units, academic departments and senior leadership, the Office of Institutional Access, Success, and Belonging strategically builds, aligns and coordinates diversity, equity and inclusion efforts throughout the university to advance the organizational goals outlined in our strategic plan "Creating a Legacy Like No Other" and to enhance Augusta University’s business operations.

How can you support the Office of Institutional Access, Success, and Belonging?

Diversity & Inclusion Fund

This fund is for campus diversity initiatives that promote understanding, belonging, and acceptance within the Augusta University community including:

  • Campus departments and student organizations may request money from the fund to further these efforts.
  • Career development of employees who work to advance the Office of Institutional Access, Success, and Belonging in the AU and/or Augusta community and to encourage their retention at the university.
  • Programming and general support for the Office of Institutional Access, Success, and Belonging.

Black Faculty/Staff Association Fund

This fund helps support the Black Faculty and Staff Association (BFSA) at Augusta University. The BFSA is meant provide a safe space for Black and African American individuals to build community with each other and strives to:

  • Represent the interests of Black faculty and staff.
  • Promote the individual and collective well-being of Black faculty and staff.
  • Ensure and facilitate the development and advancement of Black faculty and staff.

LGBTQIA+ Faculty Staff Association Fund

This fund helps support the LGBTQIA+ Faculty Staff Association Fund at Augusta University. This association play an important role in fostering an inclusive campus environment, contributing to efforts to:

  • Create inclusion and community through a support network of mentors, allies, and peers.
  • Educate the broader campus community on the group’s perspectives and concerns.
  • Recruit and retain members and their allies.

Washington Initiative & Scholarship Fund

This fund honors the lives and legacy of Drs. Justine and Isaiah “Ike” Washington. It was established in 2020 to provide a scholarship recognize their lifetime of dedication to community engagement, education and to our city and state. The Ike and Justine Washington Scholarship is given each year to an outstanding incoming freshman to Augusta University from Richmond County.

  • Students must submit an essay between 500 and 1000 words on how to increase social equity for underserved populations within our community.
  • All essays will be judged on overall relevance to the topic and clear communication of ideas through language.
  • To qualify, an applicant must be a graduating high school senior with residence in Richmond County and a minimum 3.0 GPA.
