The Dental College of Georgia will participate in theADEA Associated American Dental Schools Application Service (AADSAS)for the entering 2022 admissions cycle.
TheADEA Associated American Dental Schools Application Service (ADEA AADSAS®)is the centralized application service for all US dental schools. ADEA AADSAS simplifies the application process by allowing applicants to complete a single, standardized application.
Georgia residents, along with up to 10 percent of out-of-state residents and eligible international candidates, are considered for acceptance. Candidates of Aiken and Edgefield counties in South Carolina are no longer eligible for in-state tuition. Previously, all Augusta University students in these counties were eligible for an in-state waiver for tuition purposes. This is no longer the case for candidates applying to the DMD program.
To establish Georgia residency, an applicant must show proof of residing in Georgia for at least 12 consecutive months before enrollment. Examples for establishing residency are obtaining a Georgia driver’s license, vehicle and voter registration. International applicants must present valid U.S. Permanent Resident documentation or other valid Visa documentation. All applicants who are granted an interview must show additional documentation as proof of lawful presence in the United States before being offered acceptance.
DAT: Minimum of 16 in each section
DAT Cost: $495
The DAT must be taken bySeptember 30, 2021. Applicants are required to take the DAT within three years of applying.

While there is no set number of required hours, the average number of hours of experience in a dental setting is 300. This may include shadowing in a dental office, dental mission trip or working in a clinical dental setting. Also, DCG will accept up to 25 hours of virtual shadowing on approved sites.

The TOEFL exam is required if English is not your native language. For those applying to DCG, the cost to take the test in the U.S. is $225, but varies based on testing location.

All letters of recommendation to The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University must be submitted through the AADSAS service. The applicants for the entering class have two options for submitting letters of recommendations:
*academic advocate, another dentist, a supervisor or someone who knows the applicant well enough to speak positively on the applicant's behalf
Once an applicant has begun an AADSAS application and lists their recommenders and contact information, each recommender will receive a link via email with instructions on how to submit their letter on behalf of the applicant.
The recommender will receive the link as soon as the applicant adds and saves their name and contact information. The applicant's AADSAS application does not have to be finished or submitted before the recommendation links are sent.
Interviews are required for invited applicants. Typically, interviews are held from September to December.
Candidates participate in two, one-on-one interviews with members of The DCG Admissions Committee. The interviewer will help assess the applicant's personality, motivation and ability for a career in dentistry.

Final admission decisions are made based on the grade point averages (overall and science), DAT scores, letters of recommendation, interviews, language test scores, as appropriate, and an assessment of the motivation and personal qualities of the applicant deemed most conducive to successfully completing the program and the practice of dentistry. TheDCG acceptsup to 10 percent of students from out-of-state and eligible international students into the entering class.
The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University is a state-assisted institution with the primary goal of educating dental health care providers for the citizens of the state of Georgia. The ethical practice of dentistry requires intellectual ability, physical competence and personal responsibility. Therefore, all requirements for admissions to the DCG must be satisfactorily completed by each applicant. The selection of a career should be made after careful examination of the pros and cons of the field under consideration. Observing in the office of a general dentist is the best way to learn about dentistry. To be a competitive applicant, the Student Admissions and Recruitment Committee highly recommends that applicants make arrangements to observe in the offices of one or more general dentists. While observing in a dentist 's office is not a requirement for admission, it is seen by the admissions committee as one measure of an applicant 's interest in dentistry as a career.
