The Miano lab has developed dozens of rodent models, primarily with gene editing platforms, to study previously challenging research questions in vascular smooth muscle cell pathobiology. Current topics of interest include the control of smooth muscle gene transcription in vivo, vascular smooth muscle cell-restricted gene knockouts, Myocardin protein biology, and theACE2/ACE2-DTgene pair in SARS-CoV-2 infection and (long) COVID-19 disease.
