Medical Physics Residency Program

The objective of the Medical Physics Residency Programis to educate and train physicists at a competency level sufficient to practice radiation oncology physics independently and prepare the graduate for certification in the specialty of Therapeutic Radiological Physics by the American Board of Radiology.

Candidates for the Medical Physics Residency Program must have a background in theoretical or experimental physics, medical physics, engineering and other suitable programs related to medical physics. Our program is designed to be consistent with CAMPEP Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs policy in providing clinical training for candidates that hold a Ph.D. or Master’s degree in these fields.

Candidates will demonstrate appropriate didactic preparation for entry to the program in one of two ways:

  • Graduation from a CAMPEP-accredited graduate program
  • Completion of a CAMPEP-accredited certificate program

If the resident did not graduate from a CAMPEP graduate program, the program director and the resident will verify that the courses meet the criteria for CAMPEP course work.

  • Second Year, Medical Physics Resident- $47,476

How to Apply

Applicants must apply through the Medical Physics Residency Application Program and register with the Medical Physics Residency Matching Program. All applications will be considered by an admission committee. The applicants will be evaluated initially based on the submitted application material. The top ranking candidates will be invited for an on-site interview. Following the on-site interview, a rank list will be prepared and submitted to the MedPhys Match for matching.
